Start With the Unit Cost
AI tools are sold in subscriptions, credits, seats and per-second video pricing. The only fair comparison is the unit cost for the job you actually do. If you generate ten images a month, a $30 subscription is $3 per image. A pay-as-you-go model at two cents per image is sixty cents. The subscription may still be worth it for the interface, but the discount headline is not the reason.
For video, compare the cost per second at the resolution you need. A plan that includes 100 credits sounds generous until you learn that a five-second clip costs 55 credits. Write down the unit cost for your real workload before you compare plans.
| Job | Monthly volume | Plan price | Unit cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Costume images | 20 images | $? | $? per image |
| Five-second clips | 4 clips | $? | $? per clip |
| Prompt writing | 10 prompts | $? | $? per prompt |
| Editing | 30 edits | $? | $? per edit |
Check the Renewal Price
A first-month discount is not an annual discount. Open the pricing page in a private window, read the renewal terms and calculate the twelve-month cost. Check whether the discount applies to the first month, the first year or the whole term. Check whether credits expire at the end of the month, and whether unused credits roll over.
Look for a real terms page and a support address. If the only way to cancel is an email to an address that does not respond, the discount is not worth the risk. A countdown timer that resets when you reload the page is a marketing prop, not a deadline.
- First month vs. full term.
- Monthly vs. annual renewal price.
- Credit expiry and rollover.
- Cancellation method and refund policy.
- Taxes and currency conversion.
- Whether the plan includes the model you actually need.
Free Options Worth Using First
If your need is seasonal, start free. This studio offers two images per visitor per day and one video per week during the Halloween season. The prompt library gives you thirty copy-ready prompts that work in other tools. For a one-off costume photo, that is enough. You do not need a subscription to test an idea.
If you need a batch, compare the per-image price of GPT Image 2, Nano Banana and Seedream directly. At the time of writing, GPT Image 2 was listed at three credits for a 1K image, about one and a half cents at the standard rate. That is a useful benchmark for judging any subscription that claims to be a deal.
Spotting a Fake Discount
A fake discount usually has one of these signs: a 'was' price that never existed, a countdown that resets, a stock counter that never changes, a bonus that expires in an hour every day, or a testimonial from someone who does not exist. Another sign is a discount that applies only to the most expensive annual plan, with the monthly plan unchanged.
You can check a price history with a browser extension or an archived copy of the pricing page. If you cannot verify the old price, treat the discount as a marketing claim, not a fact. That does not mean the tool is bad; it means the urgency is manufactured.
Questions to Ask Before Checkout
Which model does this plan use, and is it the same model I tested? What happens when I run out of credits? Can I export my results? Is there a watermark on the free plan? Does the plan include commercial use? What is the refund window? Is the price in my currency, and does it include tax?
Write the answers down. A deal that cannot answer these questions is not a deal; it is a gamble. The best Black Friday purchase is the one you would still make at the regular price because the tool fits your workflow.
A Note on This Page
This page does not currently use affiliate links or display a fake Black Friday countdown. If a real partner offer appears, it will be labelled, dated and kept separate from the free studio. The studio's daily limits are the same during Black Friday as they are today.
Black Friday 2026 falls on 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Seasonal promotions often start earlier, so verify the dates on the seller's own page. If you only need a Halloween image, use the free studio and save your budget for a tool you will use in January. Suppose a plan costs $120 for the year and includes 1,000 credits, and a five-second video costs 55 credits. That is about 18 clips per year, or $6.60 per clip. A pay-as-you-go provider at $0.28 per five-second clip would cost $5.04 for the same 18 clips. The subscription may still be worth it for the interface and the storage, but the discount headline is not the reason. Run this calculation with your own numbers before you buy. If the plan includes 2,000 credits and the same clip costs 55, the math changes. The point is not that subscriptions are bad; it is that the unit cost depends on how you use the credits. A deal that looks cheap per month can be expensive per output. Check the cancellation window and the refund policy before you enter a card. A tool you can leave in a month is worth more than a slightly cheaper annual plan you cannot cancel. Finally, keep a screenshot of the checkout page and the terms at the time of purchase. If the renewal price changes or the credits expire earlier than promised, you have evidence. A support ticket with a screenshot is resolved faster than a ticket that says the deal looked different. That is not a reason to distrust every seller; it is a reason to keep your own record.
